Master Social Worker (Palliative Care)
Executive Director, The Compassionate Network
Ms Chee is a veteran social work leader who has assumed practice and management roles, with health and social service agencies. Since receiving her MSc in Palliative Care from King’s College London, she has contributed in training and teaching roles to build competencies of social workers and healthcare professionals, to promote advance care planning, psychosocial care for patients and caregiver support, including bereavement support. Known for her pioneering spirit and innovative service projects, Wai Yee received the Outstanding Social Worker award from the President of Singapore in 2016.
In July 2023, Wai Yee co-founded The Compassionate Network, a new startup that supports family caregivers to fulfil their roles and achieve peace of mind, when their loved ones are nearing the end of life. She hopes to promote adaptive caregiving to build personal resilience, and healthy grieving in bereavement. She also teaches end-of-life care and grief counselling in the Master of Gerontology and Master of Counselling programmes with the Singapore University of Social Sciences. She is a member with the NUHS Patient and Family Advocacy Council and is active as a Social Service Fellow with the National Council of Social Service. Beyond Singapore, Wai Yee teaches and supervises on the China Psychosocial Program initiated by the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN).
