Speech-Language Therapy

As a Speech-Language Therapist, you bring relief to a diverse group of individuals with conditions affecting their ability to speak, eat or drink. Clients include people with learning disabilities, deafness, and dementia. You might be providing help to a range of conditions, including cleft palate and voice disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening to assess a client's speech, langugage, cognitive-communication, feeding and swallowing skills prior to intervention.
  • Devise and monitor a specialised, therapy programme to enable each client to cope with their difficulties as much as possible.
  • Conduct training programmes for parents, caregivers, teachers and foreign domestic workers on communication, feeding/swallowing and oro-motor techniques.
  • Collaborate with caregivers and other social service professionals to ensure the clients benefit from speech therapy maximally.

Speech-Language Therapist (SLT) Bachelor in Science (Speech & Language Pathology)

 

• NUS’s Masters of science (Speech & Language Pathology)

*Note: Currently, there is no local Bachelor degree available in Singapore for SLT.

• Refer to Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) for list of recognised qualifications available local and overseas

 
• For the Masters programme, candidates with an honours degree, appropriate work experience and a relevant background in Anatomy, Linguistics, Physiology or Psychology is preferred.

• The Professional Council – Speech And Language Therapy Singapore(SALT)
