Overview
The Social Service Tribe is a movement led by NCSS that aims to bring together like-minded professionals working in the social service sector and rally around our shared purpose of empowering people in the community to grow and lead their lives with dignity.
Collectively, our tribe includes more than 20,000 social service professionals (SSPs) working in over 500 social service agencies (SSAs).

Year of Celebrating Social Service Professionals in 2025
At the Social Service Tribe Forum on 23 January 2025, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development, launched the Year of Celebrating Social Service Professionals.
This honours the invaluable contributions of over 20,000 SSPs in the sector, who work tirelessly to uplift those in need and empower families and communities. Throughout the year, we will spotlight the impact these SSPs have made on individuals, families, and society.
New Sector Awards for Social Service Professionals
A new sector awards programme was introduced to recognise the outstanding contributions of professionals across the social service field. The Sector Awards for Social Service Professionals will recognise the diverse roles within the sector—such as social workers, youth workers, counsellors, therapists, psychologists, care staff, and corporate team members—while highlighting the critical role they play in fostering a caring and inclusive society.
By recognising excellence across various specialisations, the awards seek to inspire continued dedication and innovation in the social service sector. We encourage all eligible individuals and teams to participate in this prestigious programme.

Our five main social service areas
Children & youth
We offer programmes that nurture social, emotional, and decision-making skills for children and youth, ensuring they have equal opportunities. These programmes focus on mentorship, character development, academic support, and providing the tools necessary for them to achieve their full potential.
Disabilities & special needs
Our programmes provide tailored support for differently abled individuals through education, skills development, and psychological well-being services. We aim to maximise their potential by offering specialised training, enhancing independence, and promoting inclusion in the community.
Families
We offer programmes that strengthen families by connecting them to vital resources, workplace participation initiatives, and community support systems. These programmes aim to improve self-reliance, enhance family resilience, and support overall stability through financial aid, counselling, and skill-building activities.
Mental health
Our mental health programmes offer a spectrum of rehabilitation and support services to help individuals integrate into society. These include counselling, therapy, vocational training, and peer support initiatives designed to improve mental well-being and aid recovery for both individuals and their caregivers.
Seniors
Our senior-focused programmes provide resources and opportunities for active participation within the community. These include social engagement activities, volunteer opportunities, and support services that promote healthy aging and strengthen social networks.
In coming together, social service professionals can share resources and talent, and work together in multidisciplinary teams to address complex issues facing the sector and create the best possible outcomes for people in the community.
Wellness resources
As part of the campaign, we’ve curated a resource hub with tips, schemes, programmes, and other resources to help social service professionals, supervisors and HR practitioners care not just for your own physical, mental, and social well-being, but also that of your team members.
