Provide a SAFE SPACE: Ask & be present
Listen and support: Sometimes, loved ones turn to us for support, but we may not always know what's best. We should be careful about our well-intentioned actions, as they might inadvertently make them close up even more. People with mental health conditions often fear rejection due to associated stigma.
When someone opens up about their mental health, here's what you can do:
Ask: Check how they want to be supported; let them set the pace for seeking help.
Be present: Sometimes, just listening is enough; you don't always need to provide solutions.
By doing so, you create a safe space for them to talk openly about their thoughts and feelings.
