The Singapore-Industry Scholarship (SgIS) supports Singaporean undergraduates in Business and Communication Studies to foster future social service leaders in corporate roles.

Overview

The SgIS is the first multi-industry scholarship programme designed for young Singaporeans, offering valuable support for local undergraduate studies in Business (Business/Business Administration/Business Management/Marketing) and Communication Studies (Communication Studies/Communications and New Media).

The scholarship programme aims to encourage and support young individuals who are keen to pursue a social service career in a corporate role.

Sponsoring organisations

The scholarship is the only multi-industry scholarship in partnership with the Singapore government, offering Singapore Citizens scholarships at different stages of their university education, locally and overseas. The participating organisations come from various industries and have a strong focus on developing talent and nurturing them into the next generation of leaders.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the Singapore-Industry Scholarship, you have to be a Singapore Citizen, and fulfil the following criteria:

Full-Term Scholarship

  • Been admitted or seeking admission to a local university for a full-time undergraduate degree, excluding healthcare disciplines.

  • Good GCE A-Level certification, Polytechnic Diploma, International Baccalaureate Diploma or NUS High School Diploma.

  • Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records and leadership achievements.

  • Passionate to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors.

  • Note:

    • You can apply for the Full-Term scheme at any time before you begin your undergraduate studies, even if you have not secured a place in the local university.

    • When submitting your online application, please indicate the university and courses you have applied for. If you are successful in receiving the scholarship, you must provide documents on your placement in the university.

Mid-Term (Local) Scholarship

  • Completed at least one academic semester in a local university (NTU, NUS, SIT, SMU, SUSS or SUTD) and are not in your final year of study.

  • Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records and leadership achievements.

  • Passionate to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors.

  • Good undergraduate results.

Mid-Term (Overseas) Scholarship

  • Completed at least one academic semester in an overseas university and are not in their final year of study.

  • Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records and leadership achievements.

  • Passionate to contribute to Singapore’s strategic sectors.

  • Good undergraduate results.

Scholarship coverage

Depending on your type of scholarship, recipients will receive the following support:

Coverage for different types

Full-Term Scholarship

Mid-Term (Local) Scholarship

Mid-Term (Overseas) Scholarship

  • Full tuition fees and approved academic charges.

  • Allowance for living expenses, hostel and overseas exchange.

  • A grant which depends on when you apply during your undergraduate studies. The academic years remaining are counted from the point of your application.

  • SGD 50,000 if you have more than 2 academic years remaining.

  • SGD 30,000 if you have 1 to 2 academic years remaining.

  • Overseas exchange allowance.

  • SGD 60,000 if you have more than 2 academic years remaining.

  • SGD 40,000 if you have 1 to 2 academic years remaining.

  • Overseas exchange allowance.

Bond duration

You are required to serve with your sponsoring organisation after graduation as a recipient of the scholarship.

Full-Term Scholarship

Mid-Term (Local) Scholarship

Mid-Term (Overseas) Scholarship

  • 4 years if you graduate from NTU, NUS, SMU, SUSS or SUTD.

  • 3 years if you graduate from SIT.

The bond you must serve depends on when you apply during your undergraduate studies. The academic years remaining are counted from the point of your application.

  • 3-year bond if you have more than 2 academic years remaining.

  • 2-year bond if you have 1 to 2 academic years remaining.

Note:

  • Terms and coverage are the same across all sponsoring organisations.

  • Scholars may seek approval from their sponsoring organisations to pursue a Master’s degree. Approval is subject to the needs of the sponsoring organisations, and the bond period may increase proportionately should the organisation provide sponsorship.
