Growing up, Stefanie did not really talk about her mental health condition with family or friends as she did not know how to express it well. She was always the "good child” and did not want it to be a burden to them.

In 2017, Stefanie went to the school counsellor as she was having suicidal thoughts. She was convinced to seek professional help and was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2019.

Through LinkedIn, she reached out to Jonathan Quek from Resilience Collective (RC), and this was a life changing moment for her. Jonathan introduced her to the photo exhibition and Peer Support Specialist course. Volunteering with them, she found her community, allowing her to open up and seek professional help. Stefanie now goes for regular therapy sessions and is taking medication. She is also learning to open up and talk more about her condition to her loved ones.

Having graduated from NUS with a Communications and Media degree, Stefanie now has a Graduate Diploma in Clinical and Counselling Psychology and is a volunteer with RC.
