Overview
The grant is dedicated to strengthening social service agencies by enhancing their manpower and professional capacity. By providing broad based support through scholarships, career conversion, higher education sponsorships and short-term courses, the grant equips social service professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the sector's evolving needs and nurtures excellence.
Eligibility criteria
Please note the general eligibility requirements for all schemes:
Applicant eligibility: Applicant must be a staff member of an NCSS-member agency and/or MSF-funded agency.
Course eligibility: The selected course must be social service related. It should be directly relevant to the job scope of the social service agency applicant.
Funding restrictions: Funding will not be extended to courses that have already commenced.
Types of schemes
Under the Professional Capability Grant, we have various schemes that are tailored to the needs and desired outcomes of the individual. The schemes are categorised into broad outcomes and can be viewed below.
Leadership capabilities
Builds leadership capabilities in social service professionals for top and middle management roles within the Social Service Professionals Development Pathway.
Foundational Leadership
Tailored for first-time managers and focused on enhancing managerial and function skills.
Intermediate Leadership
Postgraduate programmes for Heads of Departments and Senior Specialists.
Advanced Leadership
Executive development programmes for Heads of Agencies and Senior Leaders.
Social Service Professional Capabilities
To build a future-ready social service sector, the grant supports in-service professionals in upskilling through graduate and post-graduate programmes for relevant qualifications and skills.
Up-skilling and reskilling
Support social service agencies in upskilling and reskilling employees through training, empowering professionals to effectively meet the evolving needs of the social service sector.
Local Training Grant (Short Courses, Accredited Certificate Courses)
Training subsidies to SSAs for relevant short-term training courses and conferences, including accredited certificate and specialist diploma.
Local Training Grant (for Training Providers)
Provides training subsidies to SSAs for approved training courses and conferences by Training Providers.
Overseas Training Grant
Funding support for specialised training programmes that aren't available in Singapore.
Open Grant
Support for initiatives that are led by SSAs or centrally driven which supports the development of professional staff.
Well-being
We provide funding support for schemes that enhance the well-being of professionals within the sector.
