Scam Advisory
20 January 2025
Be Vigilant Against Scams
From 1 Jul 2024, government SMSes will be sent from a single Sender ID: gov.sg
If you received an SMS from the government, check that it’s gov.sg.
Visit sms.gov.sg for more information.
Beware of scams. The National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and its entities - Community Chest and Social Service Institute will not ask you to send money, give us your credit card information, banking login details or One-Time Passwords (OTP) via SMS or messaging apps.
We will communicate with you via official channels such as emails, newsletters, and websites. Transactions will be conducted via Giving.sg’s donation site, Community Chest’s website or Social Service Institute’s website.
Be alert to suspicious messages or requests. Scammers may pretend to be real organisations and contact people through text messages, messaging apps, email or phone calls.
If you suspect that you are a target:
File a police report immediately
Write to us at NCSS_QSM@ncss.gov.sg or call our hotline at 6210 2500
