9 April 2025
We spoke to Jasmine, Ramdzan, and Pooja about how they build partnerships, bridge capability gaps, and strengthen governance to enhance social services.

Their work ensures that corporations, volunteers, and professionals can contribute meaningfully, making a real difference in the lives of those they serve.
Social service thrives on connection, fostering partnerships between individuals, corporations, and organisations to create meaningful change and greater impact.
Connecting corporates with community needs
Jasmine serves as a crucial link between corporations looking to make a social impact and the pressing needs of the community. As part of the Philanthropic Partnerships team, she ensures that corporate donations and volunteer initiatives are strategically directed towards critical social and community programmes.

Beyond just securing donations, Jasmine builds long-term partnerships by aligning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals with initiatives that create sustainable impact. She brokers collaborations that combine financial resources, volunteer support, and industry expertise, ensuring that social service agencies (SSAs) receive comprehensive and well-rounded assistance. By mobilising resources towards critical needs, she helps SSAs expand their reach and enhance their services, strengthening their ability to serve communities more effectively.
Jasmine’s role extends beyond corporate engagement—she is a key driver in shaping sustainable giving. By promoting the Sustainable Philanthropy Framework, she encourages businesses to integrate philanthropy into their core strategies, ensuring their contributions align with long-term social impact rather than one-time transactions. Through her work, Jasmine bridges the gap between corporations and social service, guiding corporates to give holistically and regularly, increasing their participation in social service as part of their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies.
Bridging capability gaps for stronger SSAs
Ramdzan plays a vital role in strengthening SSAs from within, by partnering them to understand their key capability gaps and guiding them to leverage available resources to address the gaps. As part of the Capability Implementation team, he supports SSAs in disability, eldercare, and residential care services, to strengthen their HR practices, volunteer management, and digitalisation efforts.

By collaborating with domain experts, Ramdzan ensures that SSAs receive targeted support in the areas of technology adoption, workforce development, and volunteer engagement. Through these tailored initiatives, SSAs gain the tools and knowledge needed to attract, develop, and retain talent, strengthening their ability to deliver high-quality services to service users.
Beyond individual SSAs, Ramdzan also drives sector manpower initiatives. Ramdzan drives transformation by strengthening and building the capabilities of SSAs to deliver quality services. He ensures SSAs remain resilient, adaptable, and future-ready, enabling them to navigate challenges and sustain their impact on communities.
Connecting leaders for effective governance
Pooja plays a key role in strengthening governance across SSAs by connecting them with Board members from diverse backgrounds and skillsets who can provide strategic leadership. She facilitates Board matching, training, and strategic engagements, ensuring that SSAs have the right expertise to guide their organisations effectively.

Collaborating with the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID), Pooja helps curate and refine Board training, equipping SSA leaders with best governance practices. She also analyses Board landscapes, identifying areas of improvement and guiding SSAs in enhancing governance structures. By fostering stronger leadership, her work enables SSAs to make informed decisions, secure sustainable funding, and improve strategic planning, strengthening their ability to serve communities.
Beyond Board development, Pooja organises impactful events like Social Service Connect, Board Engagements and Fireside Chats, which brings leaders together for keynote sessions and knowledge-sharing. These events drive tangible improvements, such as strengthening Board leadership, fostering high-impact collaborations, and equipping SSAs with strategies to enhance service delivery. Through her efforts, NCSS ensures social services are not just well-connected, but also well-governed and equipped to tackle future challenges.
The power of connection: Strengthening social services through collaboration and leadership
Jasmine, Ramdzan, and Pooja exemplify the vital role of connectors within social service. By fostering partnerships, mobilising resources, and bridging gaps, they empower SSAs to better serve communities in need. Their work highlights the power of connection in building a resilient and impactful social service ecosystem, while their dedication to collaboration and relationship-building is essential in creating a more equitable society.
Together, they create a vital network that supports SSAs, enabling community groups and corporates to contribute to a more inclusive society.
